NOTE: ALTHOUGH THE WORK OF THIS GROUP HAS NOW COMPLETED, IT REMAINS CORE BUSINESS FOR SPPG AND WORK CAN STILL BE UPLOADED ONTO THE CYPSP WEBSITE AND YOU CAN STILL ACCESS ALL LEAFLETS, PAPERS AND RESOURCES BELOW
The group enhances greater partnership working between statutory agencies and organisations working with children and young people, and those working with adults to improve outcomes for family members with mental health issues, their parents and carers by establishing a ‘Think Child, Think Parent, Think Family’ approach to planning and delivery of services.
‘The focus of this sub-group is the mental health of children and young people in a family where a family member has a mental health issue. The group aims to improve outcomes for children who have a family member with Mental Health issues by improving the interface between Children, Mental Health and Adults services across the statutory, voluntary and community sectors.’ |
Under the leadership of the CYPSP, the Think Family aims to progress the work started by the Mental Health Children’s Services (Think Child Think Parent Think Family) Project by progressing key actions against the three main themes that resulted from the Think Family ‘Experience’ Survey Report with staff and service users. The group has developed an action plan for how they key actions will be achieved. The three themes are:
- Improve communication and information sharing between professionals and families
- Improve access to early intervention family support for children, young people and their families
- Improve the extent to which assessment, planning and treatment is inclusive of a ‘whole family’ approach
