Celebrating Cultural Diversity in the Early Years


 

The Belfast Childcare Partnership will host a ‘Celebrating Cultural Diversity in the Early Years’ conference in Belfast on 1 March 2018. The conference will provide early years practitioners with the opportunity to get an overview of current research, policy & practice in diversity & inclusion in the early years.

 

Event Details: 

Date: 1 March 2018

Time: 9.30am – 3.30pm

 

This event will also provide an opportunity for early years practitioners to gain insight from local childcare providers on their experiences with newcomer children and families and from newcomer parents who have benefited from welcoming childcare services in the Belfast area.                                                                                 

As well as a range of key note speakers there will also be 4 workshops taking place on the day including:

  • Celebrating Cultural Diversity in Early Years, Dr Chandrika Devarakonda, Education & Children’s Services, University of Chester
  • Supporting Parents, Carers and Families in the community and in diverse cultural circumstances, Barnardos Refugee Support Service
  • Bilingualism – Supporting Children’s Speech Language & Communication, Florence King, Assistant Speech &Language Therapy Manager, Belfast Trust
  • The Practitioners Perspective: Experiences of working with Newcomer Children and Families, Local Early Years Practitioners
