ASCERT Commissioned by Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland to Deliver ACEs Training

ASCERT has been commissioned by the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI), to provide training for staff and volunteers working in the community and voluntary sector in Northern Ireland to increase awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and Trauma Informed Practice.

The course is relevant to anyone working with children and/or adults where ACEs may be affecting their health/wellbeing. Participants will have the opportunity to:

• Develop an increased awareness of the potential impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on individuals and communities.
• Develop an enhanced understanding of the impact of Trauma and ACEs on the brain and possible subsequent behaviour.
• Increase their knowledge of emotional health & wellbeing and support pathways for both staff and services users.

This training is FREE and is available in venues across Northern Ireland. Registration for this training can be completed online at the ASCERT website.

Please note, the training sessions being delivered by ASCERT are ONLY available to the community and voluntary sector. If you work in another sector you should contact SBNI directly for information on what other training opportunities in this area that are available. Visit: www.safeguardingni.org

Level 1 ACE Training – May/June 2019

ASCERT are delivering a Level One ACE and Trauma Informed Practice Training Programme across the community/voluntary sector in Northern Ireland.

ASCERT welcome all staff and volunteers working across the sector to attend the 3 hour training sessions to enhance their knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Trauma Informed Practice.

ACE-Trauma Informed Practice Stakeholder Workshops May 2019

The Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland are holding a series of workshops to deliver ACE Awareness and Trauma Informed Practice Training across health, social care, education, justice and the community/voluntary sector in Northern Ireland.

A series of information workshops are being delivered to the various sectors, including the community/voluntary sector, with the following aims:

a) Engage with the community & voluntary sector to help us to understand your current level of ACE awareness and relevant training needs to be more trauma sensitive in your work and practice.

b) Explore opportunities and challenges of embedding trauma informed practice in your service / team / organisation.

WHO International Conference – ACE Trauma Informed Practice Seminar

The Regional ACE Reference Group for Northern Ireland hosted a seminar on Adverse Childhood Experiences as part of the World Healthy Cities International Conference in Belfast this week. The seminar was attended by over 130 delegates including international visitors, department officials and local service providers from across Northern Ireland

The event enabled the Regional ACE Reference Group to highlight the opportunities to develop a consistent trauma informed network across Northern Ireland through a number of initiatives including the Cross Border CAWT Multiple Adverse Experiences (MACE) Project and the EITP Trauma Informed Practice Workforce Development Project.
