The Children’s Autism Assessment and Intervention Service has been working hard to reconfigure its services and offer them in a way that is more flexible to families’ needs, especially when social distancing is so important.
These changes include the following:
Call back service
We have introduced a call back service for families living in Belfast who have a child or young person (under 18 years old) with a diagnosis of ASD and who may require some additional advice on ASD management at this time. If the difficulties are more challenging, it may be necessary to re-refer to the service. The phone number is the same as the ASD intervention service: (028) 9504 2301. Please leave a voicemail with contact details and a brief description of your situation. We will try to return your call within 1 working day.
We have developed an information pack for supporting children with ASD and/or learning disability in coping with COVID-19 isolation:
We are transferring resources to an online format that will be helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The first of these is now ready.
We will be contacting families who are waiting for first level intervention following diagnosis to provide access to those resources. We expect to have more online resources available in the near future.
In some cases, it will be necessary to email these resources to you, but we need your consent for this. If you have not already given the service permission for this, please email: BAIS.ASD.Service@belfasttrust.hscni.net stating that you give consent for the Belfast Trust ASD service to use your email address to contact you and send information that may be of interest to you.
Please also provide the name(s) of the child/young person, your relationship to them, their address and date of birth. If you have questions about this, you can also phone the Children’s ASD intervention service on (028) 95042301.
