Befriending Services Kilcooley and Rathgill

Starting from 27th April, uHub have a telephone-based befriending service for people in Kilcooley, Rathgill and surrounding areas.

This service is made up of volunteers who want to reach out and give support to those who may be having a hard time. All calls will be made from private and withheld numbers.

Their trained volunteers can provide a listening ear to someone who needs a chat or try to help find the resources they need, whether that’s support with mental health, signposting to other organisations for specific needs or helping with the process of contacting them.

Their aim is to keep as many people as we can healthy, happy and feeling secure in their communities.

Those interested in this service can get in touch via their referral form on the website:

For anyone who is unsure or hesitant, we understand and are ready to answer any questions about this service. Only designated uHub and My uHub staff will have access to this information.

Befriending Volunteers

Our volunteers are integral to the delivery of our Befriending Services and we have a number of Befriending volunteer roles available to facilitate this. The Befriending volunteer roles are best suited to those who are passionate about helping and supporting people in their community, who would like to get involved at our events and learn new skills.

For those volunteering, this will be a fun and enriching project, with the opportunity to meet like-minded people and to do something rewarding.

All volunteers will receive training and ongoing support through their time volunteering as a Befriender. Our volunteer recruitment will be ongoing, with the first round of training beginning later this week.

For anyone interested in volunteering, they can sign up over on our website:

If you know anyone in the areas of Kilcooley, Rathgill or surrounding areas who could avail of these projects, we would appreciate it if you could share this information onwards.
